Clinical Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a natural mind state and can be most simply described as acute focus on a specific area while experiencing an enhanced relaxed mental and physical state thereby focusing the mind to sharpened awareness and in the process benefitting the body’s muscle groups and accessing areas of the subconscious mind that would normally be locked safely away from our conscious memory banks. The client is in control at all times, and the experience itself is pain free and generally reported as warm and pleasant the client emerging from their hypnotic state either invigorated or relaxed depending on the nature of the Hypnosis instilled by the Hypnotherapist.
All individuals naturally experience Hypnosis on a daily basis while they are day dreaming or unable to consciously recall how they arrived at their recent destination. These are illustrations of hypnosis which in essence are in fact an altered state of conscious awareness and is therefore a familiar and natural experience to everyone regularly.
Common misconceptions regarding Hypnosis are that the client will be asleep while ‘under’, or that they will not remember their experience while hypnotised thus insinuating their lack of control. Both of these statements are untrue, and the client will invariably be in control of their experience at all times (an individual cannot be hypnotised against their own free will or indeed made to do anything they do not wish to) and to be able to interact with the therapist and recall their experience. Hypnosis is not a mind controlling trick which is often media portrayed but in fact it enables the individual to focus or zoom in on an area of their lives which they assess needs acute attention and with the guidance and expertise of the therapist are able to fine tune their awareness, allowing the accessibility of the subconscious element of their mind which habitually remains the driving force behind considerable behavioural patterns and instilled belief systems which can make the difference between living with a problematic factor and being able to resolve it professionally allowing the benefit of a new outlook and often lease of life once it has been eased or eradicated with Hypnosis. Clients are free to lie or sit down whichever is more comfortable for the individual.
